When can I retire?

If vested, you may commence benefits at any age if you are receiving a Pension with a related UBC Defined Benefit Plan, or when you your Normal Retirement Date of age 62 and retire from your contributing employer. Otherwise, at Normal Retirement Age, which is the later of age 62 or your fifth year of Participation in the Plan.

Please check with your Tax Advisor if you plan to withdraw any benefits prior to age 59 ½ for possible tax implications. You are not required to begin drawing your Defined Benefit and your Defined Contribution (annuity) benefits at the same time.
