Welcome to the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council Benefit Funds – Southern (STLKC) Region’s website. MACRC Benefit Funds is a member-service not-for-profit organization that administers the benefit plans described within this site for union members of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council (MACRC) and their families. The Southern Region includes members whose home local is located in Southern Illinois, Missouri, or Kansas.
The Southern Region Benefit Funds consist of a health and welfare fund, multiple pension funds, a vacation fund, and an annuity fund. Each trust fund is a not-for-profit multiemployer trust established and governed under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines. The purpose of each fund is to provide specific benefits to eligible members of the Carpenters’ union. As a not-for-profit trust under federal law, all assets of the funds must be used to provide those benefits.
While the MACRC Benefit Funds office administers benefits for the participants under each plan, each benefit trust fund is governed by boards of trustees. These boards of trustees operate under strict federal guidance. They are responsible for overseeing the financial strength of the plan, making sure the plan complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and for determining the benefits available for eligible participants.
Our health, pension, vacation, and annuity benefits are a result of the collective bargaining agreements (CBA) between signatory contractors and the MACRC. Within the CBA, a portion of the overall wage package negotiated between the employer and the MACRC is dedicated to benefits.
