After evaluating health care networks very carefully, the St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Health Plan Board of Trustees approved moving to UnitedHealthcare (UHC)/UMR, a new medical and behavioral health network, effective January 1, 2023.  UHC’s Choice Plus network is nationwide, offering you and your family many choices when you need medical care.  This article explains what the new network means for you.

Introducing UnitedHealthcare and UMR
You will receive a Welcome letter directly from UMR providing additional details about this transition. PLEASE OPEN THIS LETTER FROM UMR AND READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY. You will have access to a new member portal with UMR to help you know your medical plan of benefits and how to best use them for you and your family.

Is the Plan design staying the same in 2023 with UMR/UHC?
Yes, good news! Your plan design continues to be the same as it was in 2022 but you will be using the new Choice Plus network with UMR/UHC.  Carpenters Health Plan will mail you new ID cards in December.  If you have coverage under the Plan on January 1, 2023, you will begin with coverage with UMR/UnitedHealthcare effective January 1, 2023.  Please use your new 2023 ID card for any care on and after January 1, 2023.

What do I do for any claims with Cigna in 2022?
Please keep using your current Cigna insurance cards for any health care services you need through December 31, 2022.  Claims incurred in 2022 will continue to be processed by Cigna.

Are my current doctors in the UHC Choice Plus Network?
