Effective July 1, 2025, the Mid-America Carpenters Benefits will add a new maternity leave benefit.* This new health fund benefit will be available to eligible, female carpenters up to 13 weeks before and up to 13 weeks after their expected delivery date.
NEW BENEFIT
The new maternity benefit will be available for eligible female carpenters. Key features:
- $800 per week (26 week maximum)
- 40 hours per week of health fund contributions
- 28 hours per week of pension fund contributions

When is this benefit available?
The new maternity leave benefit is available beginning July 1, 2025.
Are spouses and dependents eligible for the maternity benefit?
No, this benefit is only available for eligible, working carpenters. Spouses and dependents are not eligible.
Is the benefit available beyond the 26-week maximum?
No, 26 is the maximum – up to 13 weeks before the expected delivery date and up to 13 weeks after the expected delivery date.
Does this work in tandem with Short Term Disability (STD)?
No, the new Maternity Leave Benefit replaces Short Term Disability Benefits for the same pregnancy—you cannot receive both.
Are there any exclusions?
Yes, Low-Cost Plan, Non-Bargained Office, In-House Employees, and participants covered under COBRA are excluded from this benefit.
